Professor Hans Peter Hahn is a lecturer and chair at the Institute of Ethnology at the Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main.
His research focuses on the regions of West Africa, mainly Ghana, Burkina Faso and Togo, in the fields of anthropology, globalisation, migration, consumption and material culture, crafts and technology. Hans Peter Hahn was involved in setting up the regional museum for West Africa.
Since 2008, he has been the representative of the institution's spokesperson for doctoral courses on the theme : "Wert und Äquivalent. Über Entstehung und Umwandlung von Werten aus archäologischer und ethnologischer Sicht"
Hans Peter Hahn is a consultant on the research project entitled "Perspective and deconstruction of the imperial gaze. Colonial photography as a source of African history, the case of Togo" at the Institute of Ethnology at Frankfurt's Goethe University, funded by the Fritz Thyssen Foundation.
He is the author of several books, contributions and the editor of several scientific volumes.
